Asesmen Sumatif 2: English Class 8

On August 17th, SMP Merdeka held a joyful parade to celebrate Indonesia's Independence Day. All students, teachers, and staff gathered enthusiastically in the schoolyard early in the morning.

The parade was led by the school marching band playing energetic national anthems like "Hari Merdeka". Behind them, students wore various colourful traditional outfits such as Baju Kuruang from West Sumatra and Javanese Batik. Monita wore a beautiful Dayak traditional dress, while Andre dressed up proudly as national hero Cut Nyak Dhien with a traditional headscarf.

Along the main street, crowds of onlookers cheered warmly and took photographs. A special group also created recycled costumes made of plastic bottles and cardboard, winning the "Most Creative Costume" award. After the parade ended, students joined traditional games such as the kerupuk-eating contest and tug-of-war in high spirits.
